No matter what DVD we put it it refused to play more then a few minutes before it would stop. We loved the look of the system and the good reviews. We would have to restart the system multiple times in order to watch an entire movie. but it didn't last long. Within a few months the DVD player stopped working. Not worth it.Sadly we had to send it back. Still looking for something that looks as nice.Philips had good customer service.
I rebooted (unplug and plug it back) it and it was fine.A month later, we smell something burned in the amplifier and I have to shut it off immediately. This product was working fine for a while. Four months later the system stopped working and I heard loud noise from the amplifier fan. I started to work with Philips for refund and apparently a lot of this product got returned according to Philips. Still waiting for the buy back from Philips (the representatives are nice).
System works well for my application Sound is great with just 2 speakers. Had all the inputs I needed.
Setup was extremely easy and took about an hour including hiding cables and what not behind the entertainment center. First, I must say that the sound on this system is excellent. While I can't say that this sounds like true 5.1 surround, it does create this strange encapsulating effect in the room. I used the toslink to digital coax converter to hook up the TV to the system. While the sound is still clear, the only complaint I would have is that for some reason, it's much more quiet than any other input, I guess because it's the only input that's not built into the unit, or because I'm using the converter. At any rate, I would highly recommend this system for anyone looking for a great sound without having to deal with running rear speakers or plugging in wireless ones.
Great Sound. Make sure you know where you want everything placed BEFORE you hook up cables. It is a very tight squeeze with the HDMI cables and the audio cables. The back cover barely snaps back on.
